Allied Telecom Group, a leading telecommunications provider of data and voice services, announced today their commitment to Childhelp, the nation’s largest and longest serving nonprofit dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. On Sunday, March 16th, Allied provided sponsorship and participants at an event titled “Bowling for Green – Strike Out Child Abuse” – held at a Lucky Strike bowling location in Washington, DC. This event was an opportunity to build awareness of the cause, introduce new members to the DC Childhelp Chapter and raise funds for victims of child abuse in the DC, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia area.

Kathy Moore, CFO at Allied Telecom and one of the attendees at the event, commented, “Supporting this cause and getting our employees involved in this charity is in direct alignment with our company’s core values and priorities.” She went on to say that “Allied strongly believes in providing opportunities for our employees to take time to give back to the community, and we can’t think of a more important issue than helping the victims of neglect and abuse.” Attendees enjoyed an opportunity to bowl at Lucky Strike’s beautiful facility and experience some healthy teambuilding in an environment of good-natured competition – all while doing good for the children supported by Childhelp.

Nina Doherty, Childhelp Greater Washington Area Advisory Board (GWAAB) Member and event chairperson, said, “We are so very grateful that Allied agreed to be a part of this event that kicks off our year of gatherings and fundraising opportunities for 2014. It takes the support of organizations like Allied to provide really important funding for Childhelp’s Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, VA. The Village is where the worst cases of child abuse in our area are treated on a 24/7 basis – which is incredibly costly, but also incredibly needed for the victims who are cared for there.” She went on to note that the Childhelp Washington, DC Chapter is looking forward to including the Allied team at Childhelp events throughout the year and for many years to come.
